When people discover Argh Matey Web Design & SEO, one of the first questions they ask is:

After all, our founder built websites and digital marketing experiences for some of the world's largest technology companies before choosing to build a boutique SEO agency here in Northeast Wisconsin.
The answer has very little to do with business, and everything to do with quality of life.
From Silicon Valley to Green Bay
Before founding Argh Matey full time, founder Matie Natov built websites and digital experiences for major technology companies, including Meta and later Snapchat, where she worked with marketing and revenue growth teams.
Those experiences meant working on websites viewed by millions of people across multiple countries and languages.
But while the work was exciting, something else became increasingly clear.
California no longer felt like home.
COVID Changed Everything
Like millions of professionals, Matie began working remotely during the COVID-19 pandemic.
Living in downtown San Francisco, she realized something surprising:
If work could happen from anywhere...
...why not live somewhere that offered more peace, more nature, and a slower pace of life?
Instead of remaining in one of the busiest cities in America, she decided to build a life somewhere completely different.
The Midwest Was Calling
Growing up in California, the Midwest had always represented something appealing:
Four real seasons
Open space
Friendly communities
Trees and parks
Affordable living
A healthier work-life balance
That curiosity eventually became action.
In 2022, Matie packed up her life and moved east, first spending time in North Dakota before eventually settling in Green Bay, Wisconsin, where family already lived.
Being closer to loved ones made Green Bay feel like home in a way that no other city had.
Why Green Bay?
People often think of Green Bay because of the Packers.
They're certainly part of what makes the city unique.
But what truly makes Green Bay special is everything outside of game day.
The area offers beautiful parks, easy access to Lake Michigan, nearby Door County, miles of trails, and abundant green space. Wisconsin is one of the most heavily forested states in the Midwest, with forests covering roughly 46% of the state, making it an excellent place for anyone who enjoys spending time outdoors.
Much of the inspiration behind Argh Matey's work comes from regular walks through local parks, time spent outdoors, and stepping away from the computer long enough to think creatively.
Sometimes the best marketing ideas don't happen behind a keyboard.
They happen while walking the dog.
A Remote Agency with Local Roots
Today, Argh Matey operates as a fully remote web design and SEO agency headquartered in Green Bay.
Like many modern agencies, we don't believe great work requires a large downtown office.
Instead, our focus is on investing in talented work, responsive service, and measurable results for clients.
As the agency grows, we'd love to establish a dedicated Green Bay office. Until then, working remotely allows us to keep overhead lower while investing more into the quality of our services.
